  1. You usually pay for a specific cruise on a specific date, so you know when you are going.  Or maybe you mean how long do you have to pay ? They (the cruiselines) basically list a deposit amount (usually half) that you have to pay immediately then you have until 30 days before the cruise leaves to pay the rest.  I am a travel agent just for cruises so feel free to email me if you have any more questions. blessingsinlife@yahoo.com

  2. Cruises are generally purchased for exact dates of departure.  The reason is the better the time of year, the more demand for that time of year, the higher the price..Good Old Supply and Demand!

  3. When you make your reservation you place a deposit to hold your cabin for a particular sailing.  The exact deposit amount depends on many factors including the cruise line, the price of the cabin, and even any specials that may be offered at the time (sometimes reduced deposits are offered.)

Unless you are booking onboard a ship and purchasing a "future cruise credit" your reservation is only valid for a particular sailing, it is not open ended.  Future cruise credits (or open bookings) are only available when purchased from a Future Cruise Counselor onboard a cruise ship.  Exact restrictions including how long a future cruise credit is good for and what you must do to redeem that credit depends on the line.

Due date for final payment again may vary, the length of the cruise may affect when final payment is due.  However more often than not final payment is due 90 days prior to sailing.

If you have additional questions, you should really speak with a travel agent who specializes in cruises as they can walk you through the entire process.  I recommend Cruise Planners at 888-286-9827, they are experienced, offer the same deals as the big travel sites and the cruise lines, plus they don't charge any service fees to book through them unlike many online sites.

  4. With Carnival, you pick your sail date, pay a deposit, and have to pay the final payment at least 61 days before the sail date.  You can change the booking before the final payment is made.

I have a cruise booked on the Carnival Glory for Sept, and I booked it last January.

  5. Are you asking if it can be cancelled after booking and within how many days? Your question needs more detail.

  6. Companies have different rules.  You should contact your cruise line for this information.
