I'm applying it over a glossy sponge painted surface of primary colors. Will one coat be enough?

  1. read the information on the side of the can.... geez...

  2. I am a 37 year experienced painter and generally kilz is 1 hour dry...sometimes this does not mean to recoat..if it is damp or humid sometimes it will feel to be very dry, but then when you paint over it..it will "yellow in"...and be streaks in your finish paint..Where I am it is quite humid(Florida), and I have had a few mess me up and had to do a few rooms again..I wait at least 4 or 5 hours..I prefer to plan it where the priming with kilz is the last thing I do one day..and start with the finish in the moring...You will have to use 2 coats on them bright colors and spongepainting, and can apply a second coat of kilz when the first feels dry, for they are the same product..I recommend after applying 2nd coat of kilz..don't get in a rush..do it in the morning..

  3. If you apply one coat of the Killz and you can still see the color through it a lot, then apply a second coat of Killz.  Once the coats are completely dry, then you can have fun painting away.  You don't have to wait a specific time for that.  Just as long as its dry.

  4. After it dries, in a couple hours, see if you can still see the old paint underneath. If you can then do another coat. If not then thats good enough. As soon as it is dry you can paint over it.
