Question:

How long do you have to wait after applying for us citizenship?

My husband is in NY now and just applied end of may and ive been separated from him since 2006 cuz im not american and i my visa was denied twice before to enter the states cuz i was a student..im from asia and we see each other every 4-5 months and now i have a 1 year old son ! im so sad :( i want to be with my husband

  1. hi, I'm sorry to hear that.... nowadays, it will take at least 18 months from submitting the application form to get the US citizenship.  however, once he gets the US citizenship, he can file you to get the US greencard, probably it will take around 6 month to 1 yrs.  Then ur familly will be re-union soon.

    if possible, tell him come to your home country to visit u cos' u cannot get the US visa.  maybe u can go to Canada to see him, it is what I can know.  Takecare!


  2. not enough information. it would help a lot if you mentioned your husband's status (us citizen? permanent res? illegal?) in the US. and who exactly is applying for the citizenship? being a green card holder is one of the requirements of applying for naturalization
