I had the tubal essure done in January of this year. I love it. I have not had any problems with it. My friend is 25 and has 3 kids and is about to have her 4th in November. Her kids are 4,3,and 1. She really wants the procedure as well. Do you know if it can be inserted right after she has the baby or if there is a certain amount of time she has to wait?

  1. Dr's recommend waiting for no less than 6 weeks.

    Reasons for this?

~any bleeding during that time (post-partum or a period) will occlude the view from the camera and make insertion more difficult.

~insertion of anything during post-partum recovery can lead to infection.
