How long do you have to wait after teeth are pulled to get braces?

I'm hoping to get my braces out of the way over winter break this year, which is 4 weeks. My teeth are really crowded on the bottom so I'm expecting they're going to need to pull some. If they do end up pulling them, how long do you typically have to wait before they attach your braces?

  1. 2 weeks. Depending on the teeth that need to be extracted.

  2. I guess it depends on your orthodontist....I just got braces and they had to pull out some teeth, so the first time, they took out 2 teeth and waited 5 days and then put in the braces. However, since I needed 2 more teeth taken out, they didn't put the brackets on those particular 2 teeth, and put a shorter wire in so then I actually had the braces on when they took them out.

  3. Until it heals. Though I had my braces on when my teeth were pulled, the ortho just pulled the bracket off before the tooth was pulled. Braces can take a while,I doubt you would have them off in 4 weeks. it takes a few weeks till the ortho tightens them for the first time. the shortest time i have known a person to have braces for was a year, and that was a child. The older you get the longer it can take.

  4. Until they heal and you don't feel any more pain. It could be as soon as 1 day or whatever your healing time is.

  5. Until you gum heals. Hopes this well help.
