How long do you have to wait?

If you apply for a competition like x factor or American idol or Britains got talent how long after you've sent your application do you have to wait until you are told whether you've been chosen to audition? How long does it take? Do they tell you if you have been unsuccessful?

They should call you. I have heard that if they dont call within a few weeks then you should call them to make sure that they got your application.

There should be some time limit.  Read the application, it should tell you when they will or will not call.
