How long do you have to wait to find out what gender your baby is?

The 20 week scan is the best time to have a look and see. At this stage it can still be unclear especially if a girl is suspected.  I knew at that stage both times as I had 2 boys and it was quite obvious on the screen!

Depending on your doctor's routine anywhere from the 16th week appointment to the 20th.

If they can get a good angle, you can tell from as early as 16 weeks. Generally you have to wait to find out at the 20 week anomaly scan. The longer you wait, the bigger the chance that they'll tell you the right gender. It's pretty common that they get it wrong too - so keep receipts!

There are ways to find out early through amniocentesis but it's not recommended as there is a level of risk involved to your baby.

It will normally be around 18/20 weeks or so. anytime before this your baby has not formed enough for it to show up on the ultrasound.

I have heard that it has been known for them to actually get the gender wrong.

This is not from experience as i didnt find out what i was having with my first but am waiting to find out this time round.

I would have looked as soon as I got him home from the hospital.  If you're to nerves to look just get a friend to look for you.

It would be embarrassing to have him in dresses for a few years before you found out he was a boy  So, I would look sooner rather then later.

6 to 7 months my friend had her ultrasound at 4 months and they told her it was a girl but it wasn't so its better to wait 6 to 7 months .

i believe it tobe at your 20 week ultrasound. although sometimes they only give you a 50- 50, cause they can not always get the "perfect angle"

I found out I was having a girl at my 16wk 4 day checkup! They can see the genitals now!
