  1. I fly on Delta about two to four times each month & I am pretty sure it is the same, regardless of airline. You have to wait approximately 10 mins after take off. It really isn't a long wait.

  2. On AA Shortly after takeoff, you will hear a chime.  It will sound like "ding dong"  That is the indication that the crew is out of sterile cockpit.  Sterile cockpit refers to 10,000 ft altitude or below.  No communication may be made tot he cockpit at this time, unless it is an emergency.  Once the plane is out of sterile cockpit (10,000 ft or ABOVE), you can use electronic devices.  The very first announcement made after take off, will be allowing you to use your electronic devices.  Usually 5-10 minutes.

  3. Once they reach a cruising altitude, normally around 19-20,000 feet. The Flight Attendant will announce when it is safe to use electronic equipment onboard.

  4. They should tell you when you can turn electronic devices back on, and when you should turn them back off for landing.

  5. Hello,

The flight attendants will notify you when the use of portable electronic devices is allowed. This happens at 10,000 feet in the U.S.

    -Happy flying!

  6. after you are in the air

  7. I think the real number is 10,000 feet or about 10 or 20 minutes after take-off its all so the electronics don't interfere with anything in the cockpit

  8. USUALLY ONCE THE SEAT BELT LIGHT GOES OFF... it is also a precaution so things don't fly around the plain and hit people in case of an emergency or some sort of miscalculation...

  9. when you reach the cruising altitude of like 10,000 feet i think... the fligh attendants will tell u

  10. It doesn't take long about 5 to 10 minutes after take off.

  11. Til they say so, usually 15 minutes

  12. about 5 minutes i go on American Airlines 2 times every year for the past 3 or 4 years.

  13. in til they announce it

  14. Appx 10 Minutes until The Aircraft is 19,000 Feet At a Cruising Altitude in the Sky

  15. how long are you flying? well at least maybe 20 minutes if no delay to 40 minutes no delay

  16. it is usually about ten minutes(when you are about 19,000 ft. in the air) and/or when your "seat belt required" light turns off. they just do this as a safety precaution. the only exception would be using your cell phone a for an emergency.

    hope this helps :)

  17. usually once your up and steady in the air, thats when electronics are safe to use...although, they recommend you don't use any electronics (except what they offer) because it might interfere with the plane's flying and communication devices.

  18. They have a light on the airplane that indicates when to cut electronics on and off.

  19. 10 minutes

  20. Duh, until the captain says it's o.k.

  21. they announce when its allowed to use
