How long do you really need to use Dreft?

When can I stop washing my daughter's clothes with Dreft detergent. She is 6 months old. The container says for babies 0-18 months old. I know many people that don't use it with there older babies. It's just too expensive if I can use something else. Any advice from other moms?

  1. I used it until about 6 or 9 months. Then, I switched to All Free and clean and Downy. It all depends on your child and their skin reaction.

  2. I use Tide liquid and liquid Downy. I have never had a reaction (and I have extremely sensitive skin) and neither has my baby. I think the Dreft is a waste of money. Although their stain remover is miraculous!

  3. My son is 3 1/2 months old and I only used Dreft once or twice on his clothes.  With my first child, I was more paranoid and used Dreft for about the first six months.  Now, I just use color-safe Cheer and it works fine.  My son also have very sensitive skin and eczema but has had no negative reactions to Cheer.  They also have a colorless, odorless, dye-free "green" Cheer too.  If your baby isn't showing signs of being sensitive to your clothing, then go ahead and stop using Dreft.

  4. I never used it with my first and then with the second I used Baby ALL just because I liked the way it smelled. I would just go ahead and use regular detergant unless she gets itchy skin or something.

  5. I never used a special detergent and have washed bubs clothes with ours since she was about 2 weeks. Unless your daughter has sensitive skin normal detergent is fine.

  6. I quit at a year, I think. No problems.

  7. Just look for fragrance free soap its called free and clear. Most brands have a fragrance free soap even tide.

  8. You should be fine to stop. Unless your baby has sensitive skin. I would just try not to use the 'cheapest' kind you can find. Stick with a brand name preferably without dyes and color. And, watch your baby after you switch. If she starts to act uncomfortable or gets itchy patches you may have to switch brands.

  9. We never used it, or any special detergent. My son is perfect.

We use Seventh Generation:Lavender for all our clothes.

  10. I use 'ALL Free and Clear' on our clothes; it's the same as Dreft.

My son is 1 and I'm still using it; but he has sensitive skin, I have no intentions of stopping at 18 months.

I'd rather use the 'ALL Free and Clear' than for him to deal with dry, itchy skin.

  11. i used tide fragrance and dye free and it worked fine, so i tried out regular tide and it works fine too; no problem...and she's only 2 months old....try getting a diff brand with the frag free and dye free and you should def be fine...then wash maybe one outfit or something with your clothes in regular detergent you use ; if no reaction, you should be fine to use your regular detergent....at six months, i would be suprised if you have a problem...unless you have a LO with really sensitive skin....but you should be fine either way with any frag free, dye free; dreft smells nice, but it is way tooooo overpriced.....good luck
