When SATNAV becomes standard in new cars, how long will it take for somebody to be prosecuted using the data as evidence.?

The technology isn't far away.

  1. It can be disconnected and is not accurate enough so it will not be a viable means.

  2. Recently in the US somebody got off a speeding ticket because their satnav showed they were within the limit,so,yes I think you`re right about it working the other way.I think there will come a time when your speed can be governed by satnav,so it will be impossible to exceed the limit, which is a good thing, except the government will then have to think of another way of getting money from the long suffering motorist.

Car technology is advancing at a heck of a pace and it wont be long befor the car has more control than the driver.Spooky.

  3. I agree, it will be sooner than people think, and then accidents will be more common, and fatalities will be greater, because people will be watching their speed all the time.

  4. Very soon, big brother is always watching.

They could make cars with electronic limiters, so people can't break the speed limit for the road that they are on, they have the technology for that too.

But if they did that, they wouldn't get the money that they get from speeding fines. The government actually LIKES it when people break the law, because it makes them money.

  5. Could be done by timing your mobile signal switching to different transmitters, (theoretically) ?

And speed cameras do an average speed check with your car reg thro timed sections in some places  right now.

And of course in London they can follow your car with surveilance cameras wherever they like.
