Lidstrom might do it he got 70 this year and 80 in '06.  He is also the top defensman in both points and assists.

I doubt it will happen any time soon.  Players these days are not as skilled as players in the past.  The game is also different, as defensemen are not as big scorers like they used to be.  If it does happen, it won't be for quite awhile.

Man, this is a tough one.  It will depend on the type of offense the player plays for, his teammates, and whether any more minor changes are made to the game of hockey.

But here's a homer pick for you king.  If anyone can do it, i think it will be Bobby Sanguinetti.  He was a 1st rounder in '06 for your beloved Rangers and is a pure offensive dman.  He's tearing up the OHL, voted best offensive dman by coaches and will probably need to refine his game in the AHL for a year, but man oh man....he thinks shoot first lol!  If the Rangers can surround him with talent in a few years, i'm sure he's more than capable.
