How long do you think it would take before i fry it (seize) it.?

i bought a new lawn mower and i want to experiment on my old one,what i want to do is drain all the motor oil out and put vegetable oil in it and just to see how long it'll run.

couple minutes, then it will probably just lock up without warning.

Pure drug store "Castor" oil would last a lot longer than thin old cooking oil. The boiling point is higher.

I give it maybe 5 minutes.   The vegetable oil will be OK for a few minutes, but it won't stand up to the heat that an air-cooled lawn mower engine will produce.

yes... and only one particular brand works well, and iforgot what it was 20years ago... it has lard in it. its still in my mower..

Not too long but at least it might smell good.
