  1. Don't beat on it. Maintain it look for rust and repair it. make sure you have a real good tp and change the timing tune up and change the timing belt. The more you baby your car the longer it will last. Honda's are the best but if you race it or beat on it... it will meet it's doom just like a chevy. Headed to the junk yard. These cars can last and last if you don't beat them when they get old.

  2. Engine should last with the required maintenance.  If you have the original exhaust expect your catalytic converter to go out next.  Also, ball joints and related components should go out soon; struts/shocks; brakes; brake hoses; power steering (flush it); brake fluid (flush and replace); transaxle fluid (drain and refill); spakr plugs and wires; pcv valve; air filter; fuel filter; transmission (drain and refill); radiater hoses; heater hoses; belts; thermostat; inspect and replace any cracked vacume hoses; inspect the cvc boots (transaxle), as soon as you notice these are cracked have them replaced.  This may seem like a lot but when you finish you will have a very relaible car that drives very well.  Purchase a repair manual.  I personally prefer Haynes repair manauls but any brand will do.  You can even purchase an electronic version on line.  If you are handy or willing to learn you should be able to complete most of this service yourself.
