my boyfriend has to have $500 job on his engine tomorrow at 9am

how long do you think it will take?

To answer that you need to let us know what is being done.  the value of the repair means nothing cause based on the shop rate 500 could be 2 hours of work or 10 hours of work.  independent shops might charge based on the job even if it is an hour or 8 hours

from your information my best suggestion is to call the garge and ask how long the repairs might take if nothing unforseen comes up.

It depends on a lot of things, How good is the mechanic? What work does it need ? What part of the engine needs work ? It could be hours, it could be days.

your boyfriend is just making the car thing up so he can go out and cheat on you. check his phone and see if there are any suspicuos numbers.

Just depends on what will be done. I've sat for 4 hours just for machanic at a dealership to change out and flash a computer.
