How long do you wait to keep the chicken and duck laid eggs before tossing?

We have several hens and several ducks laying eggs daily and we're not sure if they'll hatch. How long before getting rid of them? I understand they take about 21 days to hatch, but if they are laying them daily, we don't know which ones are what. We probably have 30+ eggs laying in the straw. I know two hens are laying on one nest, and the ducks have put the eggs under the straw....Any suggestions for the care of the eggs. We are not interested in incubating the eggs and my husband and family won't eat any eggs, soo.......we're left with 30+ eggs and not sure what to do....

Also, will the hens continue to lay eggs thru winter too?

  1. what you should do is find out the difference between the chicken and duck eggs and sell the chicken eggs and if people buy duck eggs then sell them but if they don't then let them go into the wild! grow a farm or something. sorry that i couldn't get a better answer because honestly I have never raised any birds or chickens.

  2. Toss the chicken, keep the green eggs and look for some ham.

  3. mark all the eggs with a sharpe or marker that are currently in the nest

if any new eggs appear take them out. You can probably sell them.

wait three weeks if none hatch throw them all out .ducks take a little longer about 4 weeks.  my chicks usually hatch within 2 or 3 days

    once they start.

hens will lay eggs in winter if you have it warm enough and the amount of light is enough leave a light on so it simulates longer days or use a timer

  4. Hens will lay an egg a day.  Ducks usually only in spring.  If you don't eat the eggs you can hard boil them and feed them back to the chickens.  Hard boil the eggs, cool them and then break them open and put them where the hens will find them.  They love eggs.  They don't know it was their own children!!

If you don't have a rooster or a drake, the eggs are not fertile and will never hatch.
