  1. 5 or 10 minutes.the dumb 1 hour thing is rediculice.

  2. it doesn't matter

As long as you feel okay you can swim as soon as you want to.

Although it is true that cramps are more likely after eating, it is most likely that any cramp that can arise will be in the feet, calves, or hands.  And, unless you panic, you should be able to easily get rid of these cramps.

  3. 24 hrs

  4. There is an old wives tale that you have to wait 30 minutes to an hour before you swim or you'll get cramps. However, it's a myth. Eating before swimming won't cause cramps.

On the other hand, you might feel kind of sick if you hop in the pool and swim 2 miles after eating lunch. If you know you're going to be swimming, it's best not to eat a whole lot right before and then wait a little while, but just 10-15 minutes usually.

  5. Basic rule: one hour.

  6. ur supposed to wait 30 minutes, to let the food digest

  7. If its just kids wanting to play in the pool they should at least finish chewing the food before jumping back in.  No need to wait longer.

As a kid I can remember having to wait after lunch so that we would not get stomach cramps and the like.  Old wise tale and probably came from some mom or dad that wanted to finish their lunch before having to watch the kids.

If you doing a major workout you may want to wait a bit but no different than if you were about to run a few miles etc....

  8. I dont follow that rule. There is no way I am gonna wait that long to swim.

  9. I don't wait after eating, I eat breakfast then go swim 2-4 miles. I usually don't eat a heavy breakfast (usually only a bagel, or a protein bar) to help prevent getting sick , and muscle cramps while in the pool. If I don't eat before I swim then I'm worse off. It is usually recommended to wait an hour, but I don't, and I know most swimmers on my team don't either.

  10. 1 hour!

  11. depends what u eat

From personal expierences eating heaving foods (i.e. olive garden) wait like 5 hours

for like snaking foods like 30 min.

small meal and hour or so

    All just depend how much

    Hope i helped!

  12. 1 hour is the recommended time at the nearest pool to me, but if I swim within 2 hours of eating i get awful tummy ache and feel really sick. But then I do training - stamina and sprint swims, but if you were just going for a gentle swim I'm sure after 1 hour you'd be fine.

  13. Around 45 minutes to an hour and a half is fine.  The longer you don't swim after eating is better.  If you go in at 45 minutes, you may feel a bit naseaus to it is best to wait a bit longer if so.

  14. About 20-30 minuites!  By that time, I'm dying to go back in the water!
