  1. Earliest time is 10-12 months assuming all papers are in order.**

  2. 2-3 years as a general rule of thumb.

  3. Just complete the formalities and you are a green card holder.

  4. It took my ex daughter-in-law one year to get all of her papers. She did it in her home country at the US embassy. We were told that was the fastest way.

  5. If you are in US, depending upon where you live it will take about 8-12 months.

If you are outside of US, it will take about 8-9 months.

  6. Under normal circumstances, after you have done all the proper paperwork and paid your fees, it would take anywhere from two to three years.  Right now the immigration is backed up it may take longer. I am sure you have noticed that application fees for about all the applications have gone up. So be prepared to pay more also. I think the fee for permanent residence has gone up to $925. You can go the www.uscis.gov and they will have the forms and fees associated with each form.

  7. The information is available on the government's Immigration web site  http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis

under Permanent Residence (green card) and then "Immigration through a Family Member"

The forms are available at any US embassy, or for download online. The fee is increasing to $930 plus finger print fees soon, which is a very big increase. ;-)

If you are already married to a US citizen, it's just a matter or taking care of all the paper work, which is alot, and going thru all the security checks, and medical stuff. It takes time to do all that. That is the only hold up.
