Question:

How long does Fafsa keep my SAR on file? What if I didn't pick up the aid granted to me?

I submitted my application about 3 years ago and, it seems, I can only check the status of my SAR from the last two years.

Does this sound correct?

Also, does it matter if I was approved for aid three(+) years ago and never 'picked it up'?

I think it was for $1 dollar and I'm not even joking about that. I thought it was a joke when I opened the e-mail...and don't know why I didn't save the SAR but, somehow, I didn't!

Any advice for me?

Thanks!

  1. well 1st thing, you have to fill out a FAFSA EVERY, once again, EVERY year you go to school. also, grant amounts allowed per student changes each and every year, and maximum loan amounts for federal loans all depends on what grade level you're in and what the standards currently are for maximum funding. You have to remember that everything about federal loans and grants is all determined by the federal government, so if the economy is doing bad, then they will lower the maximum amount per student. The SAR that you had received was only for that one year, so now it is null and void. From here you need to fill out a new FAFSA, and then fill out a master prom note. The deadline for grants for most states has already passed, so you'll probably only be eligible for loans.

  2. You need to reapply using your and your parents 2007 income information.  THe one you did three years ago is no longer valid.  If you never went to school three years ago, nothing bad is going to happen to you if that is what you are asking.
