How long does Maternity Allowance take? UK?

I sent off my maternity allowance form (before anyone moans - its a benefit for people who work and ive worked solid for the last 7 yrs full time) when i was 26 weeks pregnant, i received a letter from them to say they were processing it and ive not heard anything back, im now 30 1/2 weeks and still no letter or payment!

It annoys me because ive had to give up work due to redundancy and i really need it at the moment, but they are taking so long to sort it!! Every other benefit for people who dont work they sort out in a flash!!

it normally takes 4 weeks to process,

but if there is something wrong with your application like you missed a signature it will be sent back to you an take another few weeks again, if you have heard nothing from them within the next few days ring them up and ask them if they have recieved your form and if it has been processed yet

It should not be taking this long, call them to check it is still in the system and being processed correctly.

You just got to keep on them,they were quick for me but i suppose it depends on how many claims they have got to deal with,just keep ringing them,the good thing is is that they will have't to backdate it so you aren't going to lose any money.
