I just got a new camera (Samsung L100) and the instructions say to charge it fully before using it, but it doesnt ever say how to know when its done charging.

There is a red light that comes on, so im guessing it will go off when done charging but its been plugged up for about two hours now.

help?

  1. Lithium batteries can only be charged slowly so the initial charge can take hours. As you say the light usually goes out when charging is complete, some turn from red to green. It should say in the manual.

  2. I just had a look at your User Manual (online)...and it clearly shows you (page12) that the battery takes approx. 180 mins (3 hours) to fully charge.

Also...your manual shows you (page 14), that while the battery is charging, the light will be Red. And when it's fully charged, the light will turn Green.

So, you just need to be a little patient, that's all.

Also, remember that you don't have to wait for the battery to fully drain before recharging, you can charge it any time. And you don't have to fully charge it everytime. If you desperately need to use the camera, you can just give the battery a top up charge...even 30 mins or a little longer might be all you need to give it a decent charge.
