Ok. I just got a baby beardie today, and every time I have looked at him he is always basking. I would also like to know if it changes as they get older. Thanks.

  1. well my bro has 1, everday wen my bro turns on the heat lamp it goes and sit under it all day except wen it gets something to eat or drink

but some good tips is to feed it clean fresh spinach and 10 to 11 crickets a day (make sure there small crickets) my bro ussally gets like 100 crickets and gets a cricket keeper to put them in but macture the crickets have something moist like an mangerine orange or a strawberry and he will b happy

  2. I have an adult beardie and he spends most of his time in the basking spot unless he's eating.  Always has. I have a branch there for him to hang out on and he is quite content.  Just use a thermometer to monitor the temps and watch its color.  If it's skin is dark then it is not getting enough heat.

  3. That's pretty much their thing...they bask. :P Mine only move to cool off for a little and eat, then go back and bask...6 years later, lol. If you're still concerned, check your tank temp. Being too cool can cause them to hover under the basking lamp.
