Question:

How long does a body have to be dead before it's no longer grave-robbing and now archeology?

I think history and especially archeology is a very interesting field, but I am not necessarily talking about ancient Egypt. I think that someone buried in the 1800's would be interesting to look upon, to see what they wore, their jewelry. How could you get a better account of life in the nineteenth century than that?

  1. I believe I heard somewhere that a grave is bought for 100 years after the person died, and then, if necessary, it can be destroyed or the plot can be reused.

  2. Right after the person assigns his or her body to science after they are dead.

  3. Maybe you could volunteer to be an embalmer's assistant...

  4. Well, a lot would depend on the purpose the work is being done.  Sponsored by a university?  Doing it to satisfy your own curiosity?  It would need to follow proper protocol, otherwise it is graverobbing and unethical.
