Just curious! I'm 21 now. How come there are no expiration dates on beer cans and how long is one good for?

  1. Canned beer is good?

    ;)

  2. beer can't go bad.

  3. It can stay good as long as it is kept in the refrigerator.

BUT it can only last for a week in the refrigerator.

  4. They are good forever

as long as the can stays sealed, they are good

likely after 10-20 years, there might become a slight metallic tast from a trace of aluminum from the can leaching into the beer, and after that it might also loose some carbonation from osmosis, but it still will be drinkable

most sealed drink containers now have "freshness dates" that give approximately what they view is best to drink by for full flavor, but as an expiriment i drank a 25 year old coca-cola a while ago, and it was perfect, even had most of its carbonation.

  5. They'll keep pretty well as long as they're kept out of temperature fluctuations.  After maybe a couple of months it won't taste quite as "fresh" as it would have right away, but I gather that if you're drinking beer out of cans you aren't terribly interested in picking up every subtlety of taste.  It's still good after that, just a little more bland.

  6. Beer unlike wine and spirits is better when it's fresh. Now, there are some beers that lend themselves well to aging, but the alcohol content of these beers are quite high. Usually over 9% and above. If your beer is between 4-7% and it's kept in a cool dark place it will stay good for a year or two. After that, the taste will start to slide. Cheers!
