How long does a cockatiel live?

Cockatiels live about 25 years but most only live to 10 due to accidents, bad nutrition and illness. The world record, however, was 31.

The great thing about cockatiels is that they can live longer than dogs and cats, but they don't live (almost) forever like the larger parrots  

Ive had my Cockatiel, Benny, for about 10 years, since i was 5  and she is still very young and energetic!  :)

The Cockatiel's lifespan in captivity is generally given as 15-20 years, though it is sometimes given as short as 10-15 years.  There are reports of Cockatiels living as long as 30 years, the oldest confirmed specimen reported being 35 years old when it died.
