Looking at building walls in my basement - house is only about 3 months old - concrete was poured about 5 months ago. Can I start drilling?

  1. Cocrete takes 28 days to cure. Given the date of you pour, you are in great shape. Be sure to use pressure treated wood, and go the extra step and put foam sill plate gaskets on each new wall.

  2. I'm a 37 year experienced painter..I have seen many times them pour a slab one day..and be framing on it 2 days later after the forms are removed

  3. if this was done 5 months ago it had plenty of time to cure and settle, cement that is not dry will show it self in a wet mark , if you don't see any difference in the colour ,the cement is completely dry. Go ahead with the drilling.

  4. You'll be o.k.  We use construction adhesive in addition to a few anchors when building on concrete.  Be sure, however, that you want the walls there permanently since removal after the adhesive sets is really difficult.
