heres my scenerio:

I live in California. I got my driver's permit in December, when I was 17. The lady that works in the DMV told me to wait six months or until i turn 18 to go for my license. I turned 18 on May 21 and did not take a driving test. I took driving classes because that was required to take a driving test. Its August and i still havent taken the test because i 'm lazy. And to top things off, i LOST my permit. My question is, how long does a last until it expires?

Also, i know i can get a copy of my permit for a small fee, but now that I'm 18, do i have to have a permit to go for my license?

please help.

  1. in my country its 5 years

  2. The drive test is SUPER easy, but yeah, you do have to have your permit. The expiration date is on the permit, and i think, im not sure, but i think its a year. And since you did get a permit when you were younger than 18, it wouldnt hurt to show it. K, call them and ask or go to the CA DMV site.

But I seriously would schedule your drive test soon....and when you do that, ask if you needa show your permit.

  3. In Florida 1 year

Age has nothing to do with it.  EVERY BODY of all age need a permit to

    (1) learn and practice

    (2) take the road test.

Permits usually last 1 year. It could be different in your state.

    Good luck...
