  2. A felony is a serious charge and goes on you permanent record, hense the permanent part. So, yes if someone does a background check on you, then they will see the charge.  

  3. It depends on the severity of the crime committed. If all it is is shoplifting, for example, then after a certain amount of time you don't have to tell any employers about it, and your criminal record can get wiped clean.

    However if the crime is worse or repeated more than once, police may see fit to keep tabs on you for a long while after, and in the case of murder it will never be taken off your record.
