How long does a mother cat go after she had her first litter of kittens until she can have a new litter?

  1. They can actually go into heat a few days after giving birth.

    However, it's best to have her spayed not before her kittens have switched to solid food, which should be after eight weeks or so.

    Until then, keep the mother cat indoors, and away from any noncastrated tom cat. That's the best way to prevent another litter, apart from spaying.


  2. i had cats when i was little. one of them had a litter every time she got a litter weened.

  3. SHAME ON YOU for even letting your cat have a first litter! when five million pets are nuked every year!!  But to answer your question, she can get pregnant while still nursing, and the gestation period for kittens is 63 days.
