How long does a mountain dew glow stick last?

i need to know i saw this thing on you tube but it dosent say how long it lasts please help me!!!

Actually that won't work, you will need Luminol, not Mountain Dew. The YouTube video is actually a scam, i'm sorry to say. What the guy did is he put glowstick fluid in the mountain dew bottle. The color of the soda disguises the glowstick fluid so that when he pours it into a glass you just see Mountain Dew. When he shakes it up it activates the glowstick fluid to make it glow.

This is the actual recipe for glowsticks. Theres no way that the simple household items that were shown in the video could make a glow.

4 g sodium carbonate

0.2 g luminol

0.5 g ammonium carbonate

0.4 g copper sulfate pentahydrate

approx. 1 litre of distilled water.

50 ml of 3% hydrogen peroxide

So the answer to your question is that it actually does NOT last at all, because the experiment wont work in the first place.

However, if you're looking to save some money you can usually get an extra half-hour or so out of a glowstick if you boil it for a few minutes.
