I have a scar left over from a hernia surgery I had while in service. It is over an inch long.

  1. Scars only matter as evidence of surgery.

The scar itself and hernia surgery do nothing for disability.

  2. It wont count

  3. Scars are not a disability unless they are disfiguring to the point it causes you problems with work or they limit your motion.

A hernia scar does neither. You will get turned down fast.

  4. If while ON DUTY you got a hernia from lifting or whatever.  and it is still bothering you, then file a claim with the VA. If it isn't causing you any problems or pain, then you are SOL.

  5. Scars are not a disability unless they limit function. It does not matter if the scar runs from the top of your head to the bottom of you foot.

  6. Scars themselves do not count; it's how much (if at all) they impact your ability to perform a job. (Pain in/under the area of the scar can be considered for disability rating purposes, however).

  7. Hernia scars do not qualify for disability.  Nice try.

  8. Scars are not a disability.
