How long does a wakeboard tow line have to be?

Im not sure how long mine is but my friend thought it should be longer.

  1. if you are anywhere between  50'-65' then you are at a point that, depending on the boat and how the boat is weighted, the wake is likely to be clean, the W2W jumps are closer together and the learning becomes easier. when you get over 65' then your W2W's will be a longer distance, giving you more air. I notice a lot of guys riding a much longer rope-70'-85' when they have no business doing so. just cause the pros do it doesn't make it right for main stream riding. ride what suits your boat setup and your ability.


  2. A good length for a ski rope when wake boarding can be anywhere between 35' and 65'. Your ability, boat set up and the speed at which you wake board can vary the needed length of the rope. If you travel at a slow speed, the wake widens closer to the boat, so you would want a shorter rope.
