How long does a wisdom teeth op take under a general anaesthetic?

Im havin 2 out next week and wondered if the operation will take long and will i be ok to go to work the next day?

Wisdom tooth extraction are now not normally done under GA..unless your having more than 1? Usually Local Anaesthetic is given. If you are having a GA you shouldn't be under longer than an hour

I need to have mine taken out, I was actually talking to an Anaesthetist at work regarding it today as I am paranoid about being put under GA!

Depends on how the roots are lying but only a few minutes.

There is no reason you won't be able to go to work. There may be some very slight swelling, like you might get with a small bruise elsewhere on your body.

With modern dental techniques and anaesthetics you have nothing to worry about.

Don't pay any attention to scare stories from other people.

Well I had all 4 out at once (thank god you don't have to do that) and they were all impacted wisdom teeth.  2 shouldn't be so bad, I think I was under for like....2 hours?  You will probably be under for an hour.  They give you pain medication in most cases so you may not be able to work while taking them.  For me, I couldn't work or go to class I was in so much pain, but I couldn't take the pain medication because it made me EXTREMELY sick.  Good luck!  I'm sure you'll be fine!

I had 2 taken out couple of years ago.  I was under 1/2 hour.  I probably could have gone to work the next day, but I was glad I had planned and took the next day off.  I took Vicodine the day of the operation and Advil the next day.  I'm a whip when it comes to pain.

Ice packs.  That's what saved me from the swelling.  Slept with them on each side of my cheeks.

my husband had four taken out he was put under and it took about 45 minutes. He was sore for two days. I wouldn't think going to work the next day would be good. Ask you Dentist and see what they say.
