I had two accidents in July & August of 05, I was told by Progressive when I renewed back in June that I could call after August 12 (the date of the last accident) and have them take the accidents off my policy and drop my rate. I just called in and was told that the first person was mistaken, they count accidents against you for 59 months... do all companies do this? I thought is was three years...

  1. 3years in my state of Washington

  2. From 3 years for minor offenses up to 7 plus for major ones like vehicular manslaughter.

  3. For automobile insurance the best way to get a low quote is do a policy comparison on auto policies. Make sure that you compare similar options with the same limits, car make, zip code, etc so that all things are an accurate comparison.

What I always recommend is an online comparison quote at http://www.InsureAutoNow.info since they have top name insurers and can give many prices on auto insurance polices.

  4. It depends on the state you live and the insurance company you go to.  Most go off in 5 years, but in my state KS goes off in the 3 years.  But also the insurance company can have different things.  My insurance does every 3 years.

  5. Find out when it hit your driving record.  You may have gotten the ticket in Aug. 2005 yet it may not have been posted until months later.  It normally stays on your driving records 3 years or 36 months.
