How long does an iMac need to stay off in order for it to be more energy efficient...

than if it was left on? My family keeps our computer on 24/7 (we sleep it, though) because we thought that this would use less energy than constantly turning it on and off. Is this the right thing to do?

Well turning it on and off wastes lots of energy as well as leaving it on all the time. I don't know the exact time it would be in order to save energy, but I do know that turning it off and unplugging it every night would save tons of energy! Also, you can try to only plug it in when it needs to be charged and not 24/7. I hope this answered your question! ~MaDiSoN

sleep mode is enough.  a PC sucks up very little electricity compared to say a refrigerator or the central a/c and heating.
