Question:

How long does breastmilk stay fresh?

I am leaving this coming Sunday for about 12 hours and need to pump enough milk for my daughter to have throughout the day. I was planning on starting pumping today to have enough by then but was wondering if it will still be fresh then?

Any answers would be greatly appricated! Thanks!

  1. It can be stored in the fridge for up to 24 hours or in the freezer in a sealed airtight bag for up to 3 months.

discard it after either of those times as it will go off!

    Good luck

  2. 4 Days in the fridge

3 months in the fridge's freezer (not in the door)

12 months in a chest freezer

  3. Breast milk stays fresh in the fridge for about a day. It can be frozen for up to a week, but it must be thawed obviously before using.

  4. The following are some general breast milk storage guidelines:

At room temperature (less than 77°F) for 4 to 8 hours

At the back of a refrigerator for 3 to 8 days

At the back of a freezer for up to 3 months

Even longer in a deep freeze...

    Hope this helps
