We are in the process of tiling our bathroom with ceramic tile. I was wondering how long the grout has to set before we can reinstall the toilet and walk on the floor? Also, how long after laying the tiles should we wait before grouting?

  1. I would wait 72 hours before grouting or walking on the tile. After grouting, 24 hours should be plenty before you set the toilet. some people use caulk around a toilet after the room is tiled and the toilet is set. I think it looks much cleaner if you grout around the toilet as well, besides grout does not attract dirt like caulk. After the grout has completely set seal it, I would wait 3 days for that too.

  2. overnight.

  3. overnight for each application.

  4. The grout should set at least overnite and the same with laying the tiles. Obviously 24 hours would be best.

  5. After 24 hours it is safe to walk on it, but you can get away with 12.  The idea is to keep the grout from drying out for 3 days; it will be stronger if cured properly.

Technically, you could grout the floor today and set the toilet back tomorrow morning.

  6.   All good answers but I have a trick I do when I m on the job  and have to reset a customers stool..I grout all around stool area just not to far out in front of it8/10 inches in front.Hint, just make up a small amount of grout to do that area if your not very fast at resetting a stool.. You can reset it and easily fix ant grout that has been messed up after setting stool.. Mix more grout (with the already saved grout ) to get an even grout grout to continue..I d do this method only if your in need of  the stool right away..After a few  hours you can cafefully go back and use it but try to leave it overnite if poss since you do risk messing up your grout job  GL
