  1. It finally cleared up at 4 months of age.

We did 2 rounds of Nystatin and it did nothing but make my daughter gag. It was miserable. Then 2 rounds of Diflucan which helped but didn't take the thrush away. She finally "outgrew" the thrush at 4 months. Now she has a pretty little pink tongue! Hang in there, it'll go away in a couple of months.

  2. It took my younger son 3 months to finally get it cleared up all the way.  The nystatin (I think that is what the DR gave) did eventually work but it took a long time.  The violet stuff put ulcers in his mouth unfortunately (which is a common side-effect I am told) so we just couldn't use it.  But after 3 months he was all clear of it.  He was about 6 wks old when he first started the treatment.

  3. I too am in Australia and I also used daktarin oral gel. The things I used to do to get rid of it in bubs mouth and my breast are.

    1. Rub it onto a dummy and let the baby suck it off.

    2. Change my breast pads (to stop reinfection) to the corresponding breast that I fed on (I only fed one side per feed).

    3. Smear that breast with a fresh lot after a feed, sometimes also before a feed (when it was eally painful for me as I knew if positioned correctly that it would be contacting bubs problem spots while feeding)

    4. Reposition bubs mouth sometimes up to 6 or 7 times until it was pain free for me.

good luck and go see Dr or at least chemist to see what they suggest

  4. Have you talked with your doctor again?  When my son was about that age, he had oral thrush for about a month before I realized what it was (and I got it in my b*****s which was incredibly painful) and the first thing we tried--it may have been Nystatin--didn't work.  When we went to the Gentian Violet it worked within a couple of days.  If she isn't uncomfortable and is eating well, I wouldn't worry too much.  But I would have the doctor look at her again because maybe it has been misdiagnosed?  Or perhaps there is some other remedy he/she could suggest.  Good luck.

  5. my son had it and after we started the nystatin it was gone after about 5-6 days. i have never heard of it lasting that long, maybe you should call the doc and see if you can't get some more answers. good luck

  6. my little one thrush cleared up in a week we used Daktarin oral gel its got a orange flavor and you just rub the required amount all around the inside of there mouth 4 times a day after you have fed bubs i am in australia so don't know what you have where you are but i would go to the chemist and ask about it hope this helps
