  1. i just got my employment visa back from the saudi embassy in DC.  i was offered my job in saudi on june 28, 2008, and was sent an official offer letter the same day.  then i started the visa process on july 28.  meanwhile, my sponsor (the royal commission) processed my visa at the ministry of foreign affairs in saudi and sent me a scanned copy of the official paper from the ministry.  i sent everything (my passport, 3 medical forms, background check, verified degree, application form, etc..) to the saudi embassy in DC on august 21.  it only took them 2 days to process my application and send my passport back to me with the visa stamp inside.  ... it didn't take 60 days at all.

  2. If they specifically apply for a visa for you and get it approved from the MOFA, it would typically take 60 days. Add ramadan timings to that for current processing times :)

    [Edit]

I guess it varies from employer to employer. Also varies based on the category of employment. If your employer is anything "royal", it must take less time then :)
