How long does it take a tug boat to get from Minneapolis to the gulf?

  1. Depending on River traffic, Lock congestion and the current, most likey 2 weeks.  Thing is though, tugs will not typically make the trip the whole way, but rather go to major inland fleets, and then they break up the 'tow' (the barges teied together) then a different tug will move the barge further down river to the next major place.  So a tug that picks up a barge of corn in Minnesota will not deliver this barge all the way to Myrtle Grove, LA,  many tugs will move the barge, each a portion of the journey.


  2. May depend on the river current. But, I would say 2-3 days just guessing. They would go 24/7 unless there a stop along the way.
