  1. HMMM.

The liver metabolizes alcohol and there shouldn't be any alcohol in your urine.  That is why the police require blood tests and not urine tests for that DUI stuff.

The info from the first answer would be right for blood alcohol levels, I think.

  2. Many factors come into play; weight, body type, gender, tolerance, liver function, what and how much you ate previously... but let's go with a baseline since you're probably not interested in the facts:

An average adult male can process through their system about 1.5 oz of alcohol per hour; that equals one, 12 oz beer.

40 oz divided by 12 oz = 3.3333... and so on.

So, lets round up and say that 40 ounces of beer is about 3.5 12 oz beers..

In that case, it would take approximately 3 and a half hours for your body to process the alcohol; perhaps not too much longer for it to "get out of urine" as you asked.

That said, if you're going to some sort of alcohol test, trace amounts could be detected for much longer. It will also be longer if this "40 oz of beer" turns out to be a high gravity malt liquor.
