I ave been on the road for 8 months now.. 4 months on the highway.. and I STILL suck. Is this normal? I have a hard time staying in the lines.. and I have a REAL hard time finding directions while focusing on the road. And.. I can't park for my life. Is this really normal?

  1. It is normal because some people take slightly longer than others but you will get there in the end, you'll just need just perceive.

It took me just over twelve months and i found i quite difficult at first but i got there in the end. Good luck!

  2. This does sound like a somewhat long time to grasp the basics. Could be your nervousness working against you. Try to relax

  3. Wow... no it is not "normal."  U mite want to have your peripheral vision checked by an eye doctor.

Also u may have some form of adhd or learning disability (difference)..which is NOT a bad thing...but u need to work on those areas u r not so great at if so...and there is help for that!

Don't get me wrong...many peeps with ADHD and LD are extremely smart..but just in different areas..

  4. It can take a long time sometimes. It's different for everyone and you may be stressing about it too much. Just relax. The majority of driving is just common sense.

  5. I think it is taking you longer than average.  You probably need at least 10 professional lessons

  6. I dont think there is really any "normal" guidelines for driving. You're not told that you have to be able to drive straight in a week, reverse in two weeks, do a K turn in three weeks, to be able to parallel park in one month or anything.

Every person and their style for driving takes time.

It took me a month from permit to liscence. But thats because my job depended on me driving and driving LOTS.

I think 8 months to 1 year sounds reasonable. And some people may consider me harsh. But I dont know how many people that are reading this live in big cities but I do. I live in Phoenix and the people out here drive absolutly STUPID! On a day to day basis its hard to drive over ten miles with out ALMOST getting into an accident or having your heart unsteadily pound. LOL. And its not just kids, its adults and snowbirds! They just hurried through driving when they should have taken their time to LEARN how to drive approprietly because one day they'll wish they did.

So. 8 months. I do not think is that long. I think its responcible.

And following directions will come SO much easier once you are comfortable driving. Try doing one thing at a time. Worry about driving straight... THEN... Worry about parking because parking right is NOT as big of a deal as driving right. Driving wrong can cost lives. Parking wrong can cause someone to be pissed and have to park a few extra feet away from the door.

Directions are not the end of the world. Its better to take the time and turn around then focus on house after house or building after building rather than watching whats going on around you.

If things dont emprove with in the next two or three months I'd suggest talking to your DMV and see if there are any classes you can take to get help.

    GOOD LUCK!
