My grandfather is a pure puerto rican, and we can trace my family name...Velazquez, directly back to spain. More specifically Diego Velazquez (a famous court painter in the 1500's). I wonder if thats too long of lineage to take into account. I imagine that it would be. In any case...how long, and what would it take for an american to be naturalized as a spanish citizen?

  1. I'm not to sure what exactly your asking but the name and your family history is Spanish enough? I mean Puerto Rico is part of or included in the United States so what else is there? Now coming from Mexico that is another story. I have total respect and love the Spanish history in fact my husband is Mexican and we teach our children their Mexican background. Good luck.
