How long does it take bed bugs to infest...?

This is a very serious question please people with experience only. My family and I got a hotel room at 7 am yesterday morning.

In the evening we found 2 bed bugs on the bed hiding in one of our quilts (we didn't know what they were at the time.) That night around 10pm we went online and found out the things were bedbugs and found 2 more in the bed and the hotel gave us another room and told us to put all our clothes or stuff that was near the bed in garbage bags. What I want to know is how quickly could they have gotten into our stuff and what are we to do about things other than clothes like some of our duffel bags and stuff that were near the bed? And could we have brought any bedbugs with us to the new hotel room? we checked some of ours stuff but not all of it. If anyone have exterminated these before please give us your professional advice.

Bedbugs can travel very fast. As long as they can find a new warm territory, they will infest it. You might not see  the bedbugs on your stuff but they can leave their eggs. You can't just change the matteress alone..Yuo have to change the blankewts, comforters and pillows and stuff...
