  1. It depends on how you take it. Because Paracetamol is gentle on your stomach, it's best to take it on an empty stomach. That way, it's absorbed quicker into your blood stream. It usually takes about 5 to 10 minutes to start to work, but if you've just eaten, it can take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour. Don't worry about this though.

I don't know what country you live in, so I can't give you specific brand names, but it's possible to get dissoluble Paracetamol. The tablet dissolves in water that you then drink, and is absorbed much quicker than a tablet.

Just how Paracetamol works is rather difficult to explain. Simply put, it interferes with and helps inhibit the chemicals in your body that make you feel pain and fever.

Paracetamol is a very safe drug. The only risk you must be aware of is that you cannot take more than 4g (that's 4000mg) of it a day, as it will damage your liver. A standard Paracetamol tablet contains 500mg of the drug, so, no more than 8 tablets a day. Keep in mind that in some countries, Paracetamol is called "Acetaminophen".

My recommendation is to take two 500mg tablets three times a day, 10 minutes before a meal. You'll be feeling much better before you know it! Make sure you avoid Alcohol, though, and do not take Coffee, Tea or any drink with Caffeine in it at the same time you take Paracetamol.

  2. !0 to 20 minutes.
