How long does it take cat pee on the carpet to smell bad? I can't tell if it's water or pee...?

Hi, I was in my closet rearranging things and my cat just came in from the rain and he was kind of wet and I wiped him down. There are very wet spots in the closet on the carpet and outside the closet. I keep smelling them but they don't smell like cat pee; I put down towels and smell them and I'm not sure, I even put my hand in it and smelled it. I don't understand how a damp cat could get SO much water all over the place and I'm wondering is the whole place suddenly going to stink when it dries????

trust me, if it's cat pee it'd smell like it right away, if it is cat pee there isn't really much you can do other than clean your carpet and spray some febreeze on it

Not all fresh pee stinks...

Take some alcohol and spray on then blott up

spray again and blott then spray a last time

The Alcohol will remove any traces of the pee.  If it is in carpet pad then POUR the alcohol on... blott etc.

Make sure the CAT BOX IS CLEAN... just like you don't like using a soilded toilet cats are picky... clean it out.

If there is ANY chance that your kitty's urine is dilute and there is a lot of it,  or it is sticky and sweet, please have him checked by a vet.  Many medical conditions can be alerted by an owner detecting these changes.  Kidney problems, infections, and diabetes are just a few problems that may be presenting.

EDIT :    Sorry, forgot - the only thing I ever found to work on urine cleaning was Nature's Miracle".  Get it at Pet Shop - It is guaranteed.

Cat pee smells immediately. That is probably wet cat you are smelling.

It would probably smell like pee right away. I dont think its pee.
