Question:

How long does it take cefadroxil to work?

I was diagnosed with tonsilitis and strep throat this morning and was put on cefadroxil (expensive as heck)

I've had my second does of it (per doctor's order) and there is not even a little difference. There is less pain, but i think that might be the vicodin talking. How long does it normally take to clear up?

  1. Oral antibiotics usually take 48hrs to fully kick in. Hang in there.

  2. Cefadroxil is normally active within 1 1/2 to 2 hours but it's not a painkiller, it's an antibiotic so you won't necessarily feel pain relief from it.

If your throat continues to be sore, take paracetemol.
