How long does it take for 'Pending' to come off payment on PayPal?

Question

I recently got a payment from selling something on eBay and Buyer already left me positive feedback, but the payment still shows in 'pending'. Do I have to wait sometime before it becoming available?

i sold my laptop on gumtree and he payed with paypal on the 29 Jun 2010
and its been like 26 days  and its still saying pending in my paypal

dose any body know why???
