No, I was on jobseekers before employment and they told me they'd issue it to me soon.

But i need it before the 19th or it affects my wages majorly!

So any help?

  1. i dint know the job centre issued P45's i think they are sent to you by the compnay you worked for unless of course you worked for the job centre

  2. Usually 7 days after you signed off, If it is for your new employer and you don't get it back in time for the wafe run any emergency rate tax you pay will be refunded once they get your tax code sorted from your P45

  3. Jobcentre will issue form P45U showing the jobseekers paid to you. I don't know how long it takes for the form to come through, suggest you contact staff, and ask. When is your sign-off date? It won't be before then.

If you don't have the form by the 19th, new employer should ask you to sign form P46 to say that it is your only or main job. If you can sign for that, you will still get the weekly/monthly proportion of your tax allowance, but any previous backlog of tax allowance won't be taken into account until form P45U comes through. When form P45U is utilised you will get any refund due to you on any emergency tax you have paid. It is unlikely there will be any tax shown on form P45U, jobseekers level is usually well below tax allowance.
