  1. actually it would all depend on how often you feed it. You can actually control how fast lizards grow, how do you think pet stores do it.  if you keep it in the tank for too long though an it feels like it needs more room, they actually get depressed and really stop moving around a whole lot.  I have six lizards of various types and sizes.  Lately I have had to build a large tank(ok not me but my boyfriend) for our black throat monitor because his signs of depression got so bad in his 20 long tank.  We built a 5 foot tank that he is now wondering around in gleefully.  If you don't feed him as often as though they will not gow as fast as other lizards will.  So if you cannot afford to buy a new tank every four or five months just monitor what and how often you feed it.

  2. Yes I agree with bucky. Never underfeed your pets. My beardie was 8 when he passed away. He was up to an 80 gallon. We started him out at a 40. He was 4 months old. Good luck. They are soo much fun.

  3. ROFL give it up Jesse. Your mom won't let you have one XP.

  4. I'm not sure well you can say I'm not an expert but

i think it gets around its full size when i matures

    =)

  5. you should probably get a larger tank at 4 months, since by 5 months they are usually about 1 third of their adult size. It generally takes about 12-16 months to reach their adult size.

  6. The person above me is wrong.  Completely and utterly.  NEVER under feed your lizard because you think you can affect his growth patterns.  Not only is that OUTRAGEOUSLY cruel and vindictive, its poor keeping and you should have all your reptiles taken away from you if that's the way you practice reptile husbandry.  How would you feel if your parents underfed you as a child in order to keep you at 3 ft tall???   I can't even believe I just read that....seriously.  That's awful.

To answer your questions however.  A beardie will hit its full size in under a year.  They are very fast growers.  If you already have a 20 gallon, you could keep it in there for probably 3 to 4 months, past that, you need a minimum of a 40 breeder.  If you don't have the tank yet, spare yourself some money and get a 40 breeder from the get go.  You should be feeding this dragon as much as it will eat twice a day when its a juvenile, do NOT underfeed it in the hopes that it will "not grow."
