  1. There's a high chance your parrot will die while being chipped. Stuff like that puts them in a LOT of stress, trust me.

The first time I got a shipped bird, it died within a few hours of reaching my place.

& the shipment only took six hours.

  2. Shipping should be done via airline, if done properly it is safe and not cruel if done improperly it can be dangerous to the bird.    Your best bet and the safest for the bird would be to find someone who is flying the same route who is willing to take the bird as a carry on.  If not then the bird will have to go cargo which is more risky but still relatively safe if done correctly

  3. I am almost certain you can find a breeder in your area

why are you getting one from so far that it has to be shipped??

You are aware that there are LOTS of scams going on people conning folks out of shipping and money  etc and the person never sees a bird.

PLEASE check local  or make sure that you are Absolutely positive this is real even then though I would Never ever ship a bird and I have worked with birds for 12 years

  4. It all depends on which airline that you will be using and if it is from the Toronto, London or Hamilton Airport.

Air Canada and Westjet are the airlines that ship birds in Canada and those are the ones that I ship all my baby parrots, baby parakeets and adults parrots and parakeets with. With Air Canada, there can be a change of planes up to 4 times, so this may take longer and with Air Canada it is more expensive to ship a bird.

So use Westjet Airlines. They have one set price for the whole of Canada for a set weight and size of carrier. It costs my clients about $ 110.00 and that includes the pet carrier, food, health guarantee, hatch certificate, paid in full invoice, business card, lifetime support, internet group and in the price of the bird, dna certificate.

It can be from 11 to 17 hours in total from the shippers home to your home. Don't forget there is also a 3 hour time zone difference.

We have shipped to Kelowna, Abbotsford, Vancouver and Comox.

It is absolutely not cruel. We have been shipping hundreds of birds over several years. You can read all about it on my website http://www.mylittledarlings.com/testimon...

The airlines have certain rules for shippers to follow that make sure that the bird arrives safely.

I have also received a lot of my breeder birds from Germany, Belgium, The Netherlands and the United Kingdom. Those shipments take up to 33 to 37 hours to arrive to the Toronto Airport and the birds stay overnight in the United Kingdom before resuming their journey.

Hope that helps and that it works out for you. :o)

The breeder that you are getting your bird from should be able to answer all of your shipping questions with accuracy and all questions about your bird before and while it is in your possession. I sincerely hope that your breeder will help you in this situation and in the future.
